Brantford families looking for a free way to beat the heat and teach little ones about fire safety will have five chances this July and August. The Brantford Fire Department is bringing back its Hot Summer Nights program, with Tuesday evening events running from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on July 7, 14, 21, 28, and August 4.
Each event will let kids cool off under a fire truck sprinkler while firefighters share simple fire safety lessons. Free freezies will be handed out, though they are available only while supplies last. The department says the program is supported by sponsors Hot Country 93.9 and Sobeys Brantford, helping keep everything free for families.
The exact parks where each night will take place have not yet been announced, but past years offer a clue. The fire department has held Hot Summer Nights since 2017, moving the events through different neighbourhoods across the city. In previous summers, families gathered at Orchard Park, Holmedale Park, Central Park, Walter Gretzky Park, and Tranquility Park. At the 2023 Walter Gretzky Park event, about 200 people showed up, with families coming from West Brant and beyond.
Residents can watch the city website or follow the Brantford Fire Department on social media for location updates as the dates get closer.
