The County of Brant has announced that Church Bridge on Maple Avenue North will close for repairs starting Wednesday, July 15, 2026, cutting off a key route for about two months.
The closure will stretch between Highway 2 and Second Concession Road and is expected to last until September 18, according to a notice posted by the county. The work is being done by UrbanLink Civil Ltd., a contractor that specializes in heavy civil projects like bridges and roads.
The project will include excavation, patching and waterproofing the bridge deck, installing new guide rails, and making drainage improvements along the road. Drivers who normally use this stretch of Maple Avenue North will be sent on a detour using Second Concession Road, Middle Townline Road, and Highway 2.
For people living right near the bridge, access will shift during construction. The household at 290 Maple Ave. North will still get in from Highway 2, but those at 271, 275, and 279 Maple Ave. North will have their driveway access flipped to Second Concession Road instead. The contractor will also handle garbage pickup for homes affected by the closure.
Church Bridge is one of several bridge projects underway in the County of Brant this summer, as the municipality works through a 2026 budget that includes a 5 percent tax levy increase and nearly $22 million in capital spending.
