The Town of Bridgewater Council has approved grants to support a variety of local community organizations as part of the 2026-2027 budget framework. This funding is part of a broader commitment that provides a total of $252,000 in support to non-profits through grants, sponsorships, and tax exemptions.
A multi-year operational grant was awarded to the Bridgewater and Area Interchurch Food Bank, which presented its funding needs to council earlier this year. Other organizations receiving financial support include the Bridgewater Curling Club, South Shore Multicultural Association, and Lunenburg Pride. Additional funding was granted to South Shore Minor Hockey, the YMCA King Street Center, the South Shore Sexual Health Center, Flourish 55+, and the Bridgewater Barracuda Swim Team.
Town council approved these measures following the passage of the 2026-2027 capital and operating budget on April 13, 2026. The budget was finalized with no increase to property tax rates for residents or business owners in the community.
For organizations receiving multi-year grants, the town requires annual reporting to maintain eligibility for the funding. The town operates its grant program through the recreation department, with applications reviewed by staff and council members. Local groups interested in future opportunities can submit applications at any time, though they are subject to committee review and official approval at council meetings, which take place at Town Hall on the second and fourth Mondays of each month.
