The South Shore Players are launching a new series of Sunday Music Matinees in Bridgewater, starting with a performance by the local band Midlife Crisis on June 28, 2026. The show will take place at 2 p.m. at the group’s new permanent theatre home located at 123 Empire Street.
This event marks a significant addition to the local arts scene, as Bridgewater has not had a dedicated theatre space for several decades. The South Shore Players, a volunteer-run charitable group that has operated throughout Lunenburg County since 1993, recently established this second-floor venue, which includes space for stage productions and now, live music performances.
The upcoming matinee will feature Midlife Crisis, a group formed in 1990 known for playing traditional, folk, and country music, as well as original songs. The band includes Jon Allen, one of the founders of the South Shore Players.
Admission to the June 28 event is free, though donations will be accepted at the door. Those planning to attend should be aware that seating is limited to 97 people. The Sunday Music Matinees series is expected to continue later this year with a performance by Gamechangers on October 18.
