Burlington residents have two key dates to mark on their calendars for property tax payments in 2026. Following a decision by Burlington City Council on April 21, 2026, the final tax payments for the year are due on June 23 and September 23, 2026.
The city will mail out final tax bills to property owners throughout May. This annual process follows the formal approval of the 2026 tax levy, which includes an overall property tax increase of 4.49 per cent for residents. This increase translates to an additional $43.68 for every $100,000 of residential assessed property value.
When residents pay their taxes, the money is divided among three different organizations. For every dollar collected, 52 cents remains with the City of Burlington to fund local services, 32.9 cents is directed to Halton Region, and 15.1 cents goes to support local school boards. In total, the city collects approximately $578.5 million, which includes $280.9 million for city operations, $178.4 million for regional services, and $119.2 million for school boards.
Residents can pay their bills through their financial institutions, through online banking, or by using pre-authorized payment plans. In-person payments are also accepted at City Hall through Service Burlington.
