Burlington Hydro presented a $2,500 cheque to Food4Kids Halton on August 4, 2026, the result of a campaign urging customers to switch from paper to electronic billing. The donation will help provide more than 160 weekend food bags for children in Burlington who might otherwise go hungry.

For every new e-billing registration during the campaign, Burlington Hydro donated $2 on the customer’s behalf at no extra cost. The initiative, which was launched in late 2025, is part of the utility’s “Go Paperless. Give Back.” effort.

Gerry Smallegange, President and CEO of Burlington Hydro, presented the cheque to Jennifer Sully-Ferraro, Executive Director of Food4Kids Halton.

Food4Kids Halton provides healthy food packages to elementary school children aged 4 to 14 who have limited or no access to food on weekends. The charity serves more than 1,200 children across Halton Region, including Burlington, Oakville, Milton, and Halton Hills. In the 2024/25 school year, it distributed 46,048 bags of food and $150,600 in grocery gift cards to over 1,200 kids in more than 100 schools.

Residents who have not yet signed up for e-billing can do so through Burlington Hydro’s online portal, MyBurlingtonHydro, to help support future community donations. Burlington Hydro is a city-owned electricity utility serving about 68,500 customers in Burlington.
