Three Burlington companies in defence, manufacturing, and artificial intelligence will share $7.5 million in federal funding to grow their operations and create skilled jobs. The investment, announced July 27, 2026 by the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, was delivered through three targeted initiatives aimed at strengthening Canada’s strategic industries.
Karina Gould, Burlington’s member of Parliament, made the announcement on behalf of FedDev Ontario during a visit to PV Labs at 1074 Cooke Blvd. Gould said the funding will help strengthen Canada’s manufacturing, defence, telecommunications, and AI sectors while supporting quality jobs close to home.
PV Labs, founded in 2004 by CEO Mark Chamberlain, received $5 million through the Regional Defence Investment Initiative. The company will use the money as part of a $14 million project to expand domestic manufacturing of its advanced aerial stabilization and imaging systems, strengthening Canada’s role in global aerospace and defence supply chains.
Modern Elevator Innovations, a custom elevator component manufacturer at 1149 Pioneer Rd led by President Jeff Brown, received $1 million through the Regional Tariff Response Initiative. The funding targets facility upgrades including modernized equipment and processes to increase fabrication capabilities, helping the company diversify into new markets.
Spatial Data Analytics Inc, which operates as SpatialData.AI, will put its $1.5 million toward commercializing and scaling AI-powered geospatial intelligence solutions. The company creates digital twins using LiDAR and 360-degree data to speed up infrastructure planning, engineering, and asset management for utility, telecom, and engineering clients.
Mayor Marianne Meed Ward highlighted the funding as a vote of confidence in Burlington’s innovation sector and a boost for job retention. The investments were delivered through FedDev Ontario programs, with Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation Evan Solomon providing oversight as the minister responsible for the agency.
