Residents in Camrose will have the chance to support a good cause while meeting local emergency crews at the first-ever Camrose First Responders BBQ. The event is set to take place on May 30, 2026, from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Safeway parking lot located at 200 6800 48 Avenue.
This community initiative brings together the Camrose Police Service, the Camrose Fire Department, and Camrose Emergency Medical Services for a collaborative fundraising effort. All proceeds from the event will go to Make-A-Wish Canada, a charity dedicated to granting wishes to children living with critical illnesses.
Attendees can purchase BBQ food and beverages at the event by making a donation. Payments will be accepted via cash, card, or through QR codes found on event pamphlets. Organizers noted that the partnership highlights the ongoing work of local emergency services, including the fire department, which has served the city and county for more than a century.
The Make-A-Wish Canada organization reports that these wishes provide tangible benefits, with nine out of 10 medical providers observing that fulfilling a wish improves a child’s compliance with their medical treatments. Community members or businesses interested in donating food, drinks, or supplies to help make the event a success are invited to contact the Camrose Police Service at [email protected].
