A resident in Camrose, Alberta, reported their vehicle was vandalized after someone threw a rock through the driver-side window during the week of March 8, 2026. The incident occurred while the car was parked in the 4900 block of 48 Street.
This area is located near Downtown Camrose, a commercial corridor that serves as a primary shopping and business hub for the city’s approximately 20,900 residents. The Camrose Police Service noted that this type of property damage is legally classified as mischief.
According to Criminal Code Help, mischief involves the intentional destruction of property and can lead to legal penalties including up to 10 years in prison for severe cases. While data from AreaVibes shows that property crime has historically been a significant concern in the city, local police recently reported that the eight key crime indicators dropped by 44 per cent in February 2026 compared to the previous month, reaching the lowest levels in five years.
During the same week in March, officers also responded to an assault involving an intoxicated man, four vehicle crashes, and two medical emergencies. One of the collisions resulted in minor injuries, according to official police reports.
The local police department is currently looking for a new leader, as the Camrose Police Commission recently closed applications for a new Chief of Police on February 27, 2026. However, the police service is still actively accepting applications for new and experienced officers until March 31, 2026. The department currently employs more than 60 staff members who manage safety and emergency responses for the community.
