The Carstairs Heritage Centre is hosting a new Sunday afternoon concert series called Music at the Museum, starting September 13, 2026. The series brings Alberta musicians to the historic 1901 Knox Presbyterian Church on the museum grounds in Carstairs.
The first concert features Red Deer singer-songwriter Mike Szabo. He will be followed by country artist Cole Martin from Innisfail on October 18 and Calgary bluegrass veteran Al LaMonaca on November 15. All shows start at 2 p.m. and run about two hours with an intermission, including free tea and coffee.
Tickets are $25 for non-members, $20 for members of the Carstairs and District Historical Society, and free for children 12 and under. Proceeds support the musicians and museum operations. The church, built in 1901, is the oldest surviving building in Carstairs and was designated a municipal historic resource in 2021.
The historical society formed in 1986 with a goal of turning the deconsecrated church into a community museum. The heritage centre now also houses exhibits and serves as a visitor information centre. More details about the concert series and tickets are available on the Carstairs Museum website.
