Residents of Chestermere should prepare for a week of shifting weather as a mix of rain, snow, and warming temperatures moves through the region from April 7 to April 12, 2026.
According to Environment Canada, Tuesday will bring the most active weather of the week. The forecast includes rain showers changing to heavy flurries by the afternoon, accompanied by north winds gusting up to 60 km/h. Residents can expect a daytime high of 5°C, with overnight temperatures dropping to -3°C and a wind chill near -8°C.
Conditions are expected to improve significantly by Wednesday. Sunny skies will take over, with temperatures climbing steadily from 8°C on Wednesday to a pleasant 17°C by Saturday. While there are currently no weather alerts in effect for the area, the community should remain aware of the typical spring temperature swings that characterize the region.
As spring conditions settle in, the City of Chestermere is advising residents to stay off Chestermere Lake. Due to deteriorating ice conditions, the municipality has stopped taking ice depth measurements and no longer considers the surface safe for public use.
The remainder of the week will see a mix of sun and clouds, though a change is expected by Sunday, April 12, when there is a 60 per cent chance of rain showers and a cooler high of 8°C.
