Chestermere families with young children can take part in a free, special storytime at the Chestermere Public Library on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. The event is part of the National Day of Reading with Dolly, a Canada-wide celebration that marks 20 years of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the milestone of more than 5 million books mailed to Canadian children.
The storytime, hosted by Imagination Library of Chestermere in partnership with the Chestermere Public Library, requires no registration and is open to all families. It’s a chance for kids to enjoy a reading session while shining a light on the Imagination Library program, which delivers a free, age-appropriate book every month to children from birth to age five.
The Dolly Parton Imagination Library now puts more than 60,000 books into mailboxes across Canada each month. Research shows that children signed up for the program are 13 times more likely to be read to four or more days a week and 7 times more likely to show stronger expressive vocabulary skills compared to kids not enrolled.
The Chestermere event is one of many happening across the country on June 26. “Communities, families, educators, libraries, and local partners across Canada will come together on June 26 for a special National Day of Reading celebration, highlighting the joy of books and the impact of early literacy in children’s lives,” the Imagination Library said in its national announcement. The library is located at 105B Marina Road.
