The City of Chestermere is calling on residents, community groups, and local organizations to help beautify the community during upcoming Earth Day clean-up event on April 22, 2026. Held under the theme Our Power, Our Planet, the initiative encourages citizens to take active roles in maintaining local parks and neighbourhoods.
To support these efforts, the city is providing free supplies, including gloves, bags, and litter pickers, to anyone looking to organize or join a clean-up. Residents can request these materials and coordinate waste collection by contacting the city at [email protected]. Supplies can be picked up at City Hall, located at 105 Marina Road.
The city will also mark the occasion on April 22 by turning off exterior building lights to help reduce energy consumption. These efforts complement long-standing local traditions, such as the Chestermere Public Library initiative that has successfully gathered volunteers for the past three years to remove litter from around John Peake Park and the library parking lot.
For those looking to dispose of waste, recycling, or yard materials throughout the year, the Chestermere Eco Centre at 2881 Chestermere Blvd remains free for all residents to use.
