The Chestermere Fine Art Guild is encouraging community participation in the Red Ribbon Art Competition as part of the Chestermere Country Fair on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the Rodeo Grounds and Recreation Centre in Chestermere, Alberta. Local artists and hobbyists of all ages can enter their work in a wide range of categories for a chance to win ribbons, trophies, and prize money.
The free competition, organized by the Rocky View Chestermere Agricultural Society, is open to anyone in the community, with entry tags available at the Chestermere Public Library and the Chestermere Recreation Centre. Entries must be dropped off at the Curling Rink at the Recreation Centre on Friday, September 11, between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. The contest covers everything from painting and photography to baking, preserves, quilting, and even wine and beer.
The Red Ribbon Competition, also known as a Bench Show, is a long-standing tradition at the Chestermere Country Fair, which is the oldest annual event in the community. The fair also features rodeo events, a harvest market, a parade, and a kids’ zone, making it a full day of activities for families.
The Chestermere Fine Art Guild, founded in 2002, supports artists of all skill levels with weekly Thursday evening painting sessions at the Synergy Building. The guild’s Annual General Meeting is set for Thursday, September 17, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the same location, 101-340 Merganser Drive West.
