Registration is open for the 15th annual Loop the Lake Run, which returns to Chestermere on April 19, 2026. This year, the community event features a new venue at Anniversary Park, located at 201 West Chestermere Drive.
Organized by Platinum Racing, the race offers four distance options to accommodate different fitness levels. Participants can sign up for the 1K Kids Run for $25, the 5K Run for $69, the 10K Run for $79, or the 21K half marathon for $99.
The event includes a staggered start time, with the 21K and 10K races beginning at 9:00 a.m. The 5K run follows at 9:05 a.m., and the 1K Kids Run starts at 9:10 a.m. The race typically draws between 100 and 500 participants and includes amenities such as chip timing, four aid stations, post-race food, and a finish line beach party.
Online registration closes at midnight on April 17, 2026. While in-person registration will be available on race day, organizers note that participants who sign up after April 15 are not guaranteed a race shirt.
The race has a long history in the community, originating around 2009 when local resident Bernie Maillet founded the event as a fundraiser for the public library. Over its first decade, the run raised $98,000 for the library. The event has now moved to an earlier spring date, departing from its traditional June schedule.
