The 17th annual Bloom exhibition is returning to Colwood this spring, offering residents a chance to view a variety of locally created artwork inspired by nature. Hosted by the Arts & Culture Colwood Society, the juried show will be held at the Goldfinch Arts Centre starting April 2 and running until May 3, 2026.
The exhibition showcases a diverse range of works, including paintings, drawings, mixed media, and fiber art. Both 2D and 3D pieces are featured, all focusing on the theme of blooms, such as flowers, plants, and other forms of natural growth. This year, award-winning artist Claire Christinel serves as the juror for the event, reviewing entries submitted by local artists.
An opening reception is set for April 4, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., providing community members an opportunity to meet the artists. Following the reception, the exhibition will remain open to the public from Thursday through Sunday, noon to 4:00 p.m.
The event is held at the Goldfinch Arts Centre, located at 170 Goldfinch Road in Lagoon West Park. The venue, which sits adjacent to the Esquimalt Lagoon National Migratory Bird Sanctuary, offers free parking and is fully accessible to visitors.
The Arts & Culture Colwood Society, a non-profit organization established in 2021, organizes the show as part of its mission to foster local creative talent. The society acknowledges the Lekwungen People for allowing them to live and work on their traditional lands and remains committed to including Indigenous arts practices in its programming.
