The Arts & Culture Colwood Society is bringing a new non-juried open exhibition, “Plein Air in the Westshore,” to the Goldfinch Arts Centre in Colwood from September 3 to 27, 2026. The show features local artists who painted outdoors across the West Shore, and it is free for anyone to visit.
Artists from Colwood, Langford, Metchosin, Highlands, and Bear Mountain created works on location, with at least 75 percent of each piece completed en plein air. Because the show is non-juried, no artist was turned away by a selection panel.
The opening gala runs September 5 from 1 to 3 p.m., and admission is free. The exhibition is part of the Lagoon Arts & Culture Festival, which takes place September 11 and 12 at Lagoon West Park and the Goldfinch Arts Centre.
This year, Royal Bay Developers will choose three artworks from the show to be displayed on a billboard at 345 Latoria Boulevard. The selected pieces will be enlarged to 96 by 96 inches and shown for several months at no cost to the artists.
The Goldfinch Arts Centre is at 170 Goldfinch Road. The society is volunteer led and has about 260 members.
