The City of Colwood is hosting a community event to help residents refresh their wardrobes and fix their favourite clothes on April 11, 2026. The Pop-Up Sewing Makerspace and Clothing Swap will take place at Emery Hall in Colwood, British Columbia, to encourage sustainable fashion and reduce waste.
The event is organized in partnership with ReImagine West Shore at 537 Glencairn Lane. Professional tailor Heather Ireland will lead the sewing portion, offering advice for those who have active projects they need help finishing.
Participants for the sewing workshop must register for one of two specific times, as these sessions are for people who already know how to sew rather than beginners. Residents are asked to bring their own fabric, buttons, and zippers, along with their own sewing machine if they have one.
The clothing swap portion of the day is a drop-in event that runs from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This allows community members to trade items they no longer wear for something new to them at no cost.
