A new infrastructure upgrade project is underway on Latoria Road in Colwood, British Columbia, marking another step in the city’s ongoing efforts to improve local roads and utilities. The construction work, which covers the stretch of road between Quarry Street and Wishart Road, began the week of May 11, 2026, and is expected to continue for about four months.
The City of Colwood Engineering department is overseeing the project, with Don Mann Excavating handling the construction. Residents and commuters can expect work to take place primarily between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., though there may be times when crews need to extend these hours. Drivers travelling through the area must follow a mandatory 30 km/h construction speed zone at all times. While traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist with flow, officials note that emergency vehicles will maintain priority access throughout the duration of the project.

As the city manages these infrastructure projects, local council members are also working to finalize the 2026 budget. Efforts are currently focused on reducing the proposed property tax increase from an initial draft of 7.54 per cent down to a targeted 4.25 per cent, aiming to balance the funding of essential community services amid rising costs for policing and fire protection.
