Dauphin RCMP are asking for the public’s help to identify a man who assaulted an 82-year-old man on June 2, 2026, in the 200-block of Main Street North in Dauphin, Manitoba. Police say the suspect was going through garbage behind a multi-unit residence when the victim told him to leave. The suspect grabbed the victim, who was walking down a set of stairs, punched him, and dragged him down the rest of the staircase by his leg before running away.
The victim suffered minor injuries. The suspect is described as at least 5’11” with a thin build. He was wearing a red jacket or sweater with white lettering on the front, and black shoes with white soles that appear to have red lettering or a logo near the toes. He was last seen heading southbound through the back alley behind the building.
On June 4, the RCMP released photos of the suspect, hoping someone in the community can identify him. Anyone with information is asked to call Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5050 or submit an anonymous tip through Manitoba Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.
The 82-year-old victim was not seriously hurt in the attack, which happened around 6:50 p.m. Police have not said whether the suspect and victim knew each other, but they confirmed the suspect did not live at the building. The investigation is ongoing.
