Dauphin residents will get a second chance to enjoy the Parkland Chamber of Commerce Annual Street Fair & Dance this fall. The event, originally set for July 30, 2026, has been rescheduled to September 18, 2026, after severe flooding forced its cancellation earlier this summer.
The Chamber announced the new “Fall Edition” will take place in downtown Dauphin at CN Park and along 1st Avenue Northwest. The street fair typically features live music from 10 a.m. until midnight, a Kids Zone, mini-train rides, beer gardens, food vendors, and family entertainment.
The original date was scrapped after devastating floods hit Dauphin and the wider Parkland region in late June and early July. The city declared a state of local emergency on July 1, and Mayor David Bosiak said the flooding was “as bad as I’ve ever seen it in the city of Dauphin.” Approximately 1,000 homes experienced water infiltration, and the Dauphin Regional Health Centre was evacuated, with 54 patients, including one infant, moved to other hospitals.
The annual street fair is one of the Chamber’s key community events, usually held the Thursday before the August long weekend to kick off Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival. That festival was also cancelled this year due to the flooding.
Chamber board member Christian Laughland said the community needs the celebration after a difficult summer. “It’s been a really tough summer for people,” Laughland said. “I feel by that time, people will really want to let loose. The street fair and dance will give people that chance.”
