The Rural Municipality of Dauphin is handing out free flood clean-up kits to help residents recover from the heavy June rains that swamped homes and basements across the region.
The kits became available on July 21, 2026, and include essential cleaning supplies for anyone whose property was damaged by overland flooding. Residents can contact the RM of Dauphin office at 204-638-4531 to confirm availability and get pickup details while supplies last.
The cleanup effort follows what City of Dauphin Mayor David Bosiak called probably the worst flooding he has ever seen in the city. The Rural Municipality of Dauphin declared a state of local emergency on June 30 after roughly 115 millimetres of rain fell in just a few days, pushing the monthly total past 211 millimetres and making it the second-wettest June in Dauphin’s history. The City of Dauphin declared its own state of local emergency on July 1.
The north end of the city took the hardest hit, with widespread basement flooding forcing many families out of their homes. The Dauphin Regional Health Centre also had to evacuate 54 patients and close its emergency department after water reached its basement and loading dock.
Beyond the clean-up kits, provincial aid is available through the Manitoba Flood Recovery Program, which covers costs like debris removal, mould remediation, and home repairs. The province has also committed $5 million in emergency funding to help municipalities manage the fallout.
