This warming trend marks a significant change from the colder conditions experienced throughout April. Current daytime highs are reaching approximately 9°C warmer than the typical temperatures seen last month. On May 13, 2026, the area recorded a temperature of 14.7°C at the local airport under mainly sunny skies.
The forecast through May 19 indicates that overnight lows will remain just above freezing, hovering between 0°C and 4°C. While the coming days will bring a mix of sun and cloud, residents should prepare for a 30 per cent chance of showers from Thursday through Saturday, along with a risk of a thunderstorm on Thursday.
The warmer weather is accompanied by extended daylight hours, with the sun rising at 5:10 AM and setting at 11:20 PM. This shift aligns with broader seasonal expectations for the Yukon, which often sees a transition toward summer-like conditions by the middle of May.
As noted by Dawson City officials, the community typically experiences a brief spring season given its subarctic climate.
