T2 Metals Corp. has officially acquired the Aurora Gold-Silver Project, a 76-square-kilometre site located 70 kilometres northeast of Dawson City, Yukon. The company finalized the acquisition following a successful round of financing that raised more than $7.3 million, marking a new phase of exploration in the area.
The project site sits directly adjacent to the Dempster Highway within the Tombstone Gold Belt, a region well-known for its mineral potential. T2 Metals Corp. acquired the land from local prospector Shawn Ryan, who is recognized for his role in discovering the White Gold District and sparking a modern gold rush in the Yukon. The property includes six identified gold-bearing prospects that have seen very little exploration work over the past 15 years.
Historical data from the project’s AJ prospect shows previous drilling results returned high-grade gold samples, though less than 3,000 metres of total drilling has been conducted across the entire site since the claims were first staked two decades ago. The geology of the Aurora Project is considered similar to the nearby ML Project operated by Prospector Metals Corp., where recent work identified significant gold and copper mineralization.
For Dawson City, where mining activity contributes to more than half of the town’s annual commercial revenue, the move by T2 Metals Corp. represents potential future economic activity. With the company now in its strongest financial position to date, leadership has set a clear plan for the 2026 field season. The company intends to focus its efforts on exploring the Golden Wall prospect and expanding upon known mineral deposits at the AJ Vein target.
