Yukon Energy is hosting a series of public meetings in Dawson City, Yukon, starting March 23, 2026, to answer resident questions about electricity bills and future power projects. These sessions offer a direct way for locals to speak with staff about their accounts and how energy is managed in the community.
The first event will be held at the Yukon University Dawson City Campus on March 23 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Additional drop-in hours are scheduled at the local Yukon Energy office on March 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and March 25 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Residents will have the chance to discuss billing issues following concerns from January 2026, when many customers received bills based on estimates rather than actual meter readings. This led to questions about accuracy and high costs during the coldest part of the winter.
The utility is also currently asking the Yukon Utilities Board for approval on a $350 million plan to upgrade equipment and power lines across the territory. If the plan is approved, it could result in higher annual electricity rates for residents between 2025 and 2027.
