Dawson Creek residents and businesses will see a change in how often they receive their natural gas bills starting this October. Pacific Northern Gas, the utility that serves northeastern British Columbia, announced on August 4, 2026, that customers in its North East service area will automatically switch from getting a bill every two months to once a month.
The change affects homes and commercial properties in Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, Tumbler Ridge, and nearby communities. Pacific Northern Gas says the switch does not involve any rate increases, and customers who are already on pre-authorized payment plans will not need to do anything.
Some people might notice a one-time bill that arrives sooner than usual or covers a shorter period than expected. The utility says this is normal while the system moves to the new schedule, and it does not mean anyone is being charged twice. The new monthly cycle will match the way most gas and electric utilities bill customers across the country.
Pacific Northern Gas has served the region for more than 50 years, operating about 2,200 kilometres of distribution lines through its North East subsidiary. The utility is regulated by the British Columbia Utilities Commission, which reviews delivery rates every year and gas commodity costs every three months.
