The pleasant conditions will be short-lived, however, as a shift in the weather pattern is expected to bring much cooler air by mid-week. Snow is in the forecast for Wednesday, April 15, with daytime temperatures reaching a high of only -4°C.
The cold will intensify heading into Thursday morning, when overnight temperatures are expected to drop to -10°C. This is significantly colder than the typical April low of -1°C for the community.
This fluctuation in temperature aligns with predictions from The Weather Network, which forecasted that colder-than-normal conditions and above-average precipitation, including snow, would continue to affect Alberta through April. Local gardeners and those with outdoor plans may want to take precautions against the sudden frost as these cold snaps can be damaging to sensitive plants.
