The City of Grande Prairie, Alberta, is focusing its road maintenance efforts on ice control and flood prevention for the week of March 2 to March 6, 2026. This shift in operations aims to manage meltwater and slippery conditions to keep roads safe for drivers and transit users across the community.

While the main focus is now on ice and drainage, residential snow removal continued on Monday, March 2, in specific neighbourhoods. Crews worked in Crystal Heights, Crystal Landing, Summit, and Ivy Lake Estates as part of the “Week B” clearing cycle.

Residents should be aware that parking bans remain in effect on major city streets from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday to Friday. These bans apply to high-traffic areas like 100 Street, 84 Avenue, 68 Avenue, Resources Road, and Highway 40 to allow equipment to treat the roads and maintain drainage.

The Transportation and Parks department manages these operations to ensure that primary routes receive immediate attention during winter weather. Following the residential clearing that took place in late February, the city is now prioritizing the management of melting snow as temperatures fluctuate.
