A 40-year-old Guelph man has been charged with assaulting a police officer causing bodily harm following a physical altercation in downtown Guelph on May 13, 2026. The incident occurred just after 3 p.m. while officers were attempting to make an arrest, during which the man bit an officer on the thigh, breaking the skin.
The injured officer was transported to a hospital for treatment following the confrontation. According to the Guelph Police Service, the accused is currently facing charges and is expected to appear in court on June 23, 2026.
