On March 19, 2026, the Guelph Police Service arrested a 19-year-old man and issued a warrant for a 19-year-old woman after a BB rifle was fired at a home in Guelph, Ontario. The incident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. near Hanlon Road and College Avenue West when a woman standing on her front porch was targeted by a passenger in a passing van.
According to police, the van slowed down in front of the residence and a woman in the passenger seat fired several BBs. While the house was hit, no injuries were reported, and the victim told officers she did not know the people involved.
Officers later found the van at a nearby home and recovered a BB rifle. A 19-year-old Guelph man was arrested and faces four charges, including careless use of a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, discharging an air gun with intent, and mischief under $5,000.
A 19-year-old woman from Milton remains at large and is wanted on identical charges. The arrested man is set to appear in court on June 9, 2026.
This incident follows other recent reports involving air guns in the community. In early January 2026, the Guelph Police Service responded to separate calls where three unloaded BB guns were found and another where a weapon was pointed at officers during a check on a resident’s well-being.
