A 40-year-old man from Guelph, Ontario, was arrested on weapons charges following a confrontation at a downtown bar early on the morning of March 1, 2026.
According to the Guelph Police Service, the man was asked to leave a local business by the staff. Once he was outside, the man pulled out a weapon and made threats toward the employees before running away from the area.
Officers located the man shortly after the incident and found that he was already under court orders that banned him from possessing any weapons. He was held in custody to wait for a bail hearing and the investigation is listed under case number 26013604.
This arrest comes as local police continue a safety project to address a rise in violent crime. In the weeks leading up to this event, officers have also removed other dangerous items from the downtown streets, including an assault-style rifle and a loaded pellet gun.
