Dog owners in Hanover have until the end of the day today, March 31, 2026, to renew their annual pet licenses at the Town Municipal Office. Under By-law No. 2819-13, all dogs over three months of age must be licensed with the town each year.
To complete the renewal, residents must provide proof that their dog has received a current rabies vaccination. The municipal office is located at 341 10th Street and is open for business from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The Town of Hanover advises that pet owners who no longer have a previously registered dog should call 519-364-2780 to update their records. Failing to do so or missing the renewal deadline may result in penalties, as late fees can increase costs by as much as 52 percent. Any outstanding or late payments remaining after March 31 will be added to the owner’s property tax bill.
The town also reminds residents that under the current animal control rules, the fine for a dog found running at large is $95.00.
