A 34-year-old man from Hanover, Ontario, has been charged with break and enter after a home on 12th Avenue was entered while the residents were away on February 12, 2026. The Hanover Police Service investigated the incident in the 400 block, which serves as a reminder for neighbors to stay vigilant about home security.
Officers spoke with witnesses and found that the suspect and the victim already knew each other. Following the investigation, the man was located and arrested for the break and enter.
The accused man has since been released from police custody. He is expected to appear in court at a later date in Walkerton to answer to the charges.
Local police suggest that residents keep their doors locked and report any suspicious behavior right away to help stop crime in the area. Homeowners can also register their security cameras through the CamSafe website, a program where Hanover currently has more registrations than any other community in Southwestern Ontario.
