A Hanover teacher is moving into school administration next year, as the Bluewater District School Board announced Megan Gagner will be the new Vice-Principal at Kincardine District Senior School starting the 2026-2027 school year.
Gagner currently teaches at John Diefenbaker Senior School in Hanover. She steps into the role left by Tanya O’Hanlon, who is becoming Vice-Principal at G.C. Huston Public School, part of a broader shuffle of 13 placements across the school board announced on May 27, 2026.
The appointment brings a familiar face from Hanover to a Kincardine school that is in the middle of a major transformation. A replacement build for KDSS is underway, backed by $26.4 million from the Ontario Ministry of Education, and the school will eventually hold 881 students in Grades 7 through 12.
Earlier this month, Bruce Power donated $500,000 to the BUILDKD+ Campaign, a drive to raise $4.5 million for extras like a track and field facility, technology spaces, arts areas, and flexible learning rooms at the new school.
Gagner’s move from the classroom to the vice-principal’s office is a notable step for a staff member at JDSS, where about 800 students attend the modern school that opened in 2019. The school board, which serves Grey and Bruce counties from its headquarters in Chesley, typically announces these administrative placements in late spring to give families and staff time to prepare for the coming school year.
