The Hanover Public Library is inviting residents to celebrate local creativity with a Poetry Open Mic Night on Friday, April 17, 2026. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the library, located at 451 10th Avenue.
This event is hosted in partnership with HIPP Culture, a local initiative that promotes arts and cultural activities in Hanover. The evening is part of the nationwide celebration of National Poetry Month, which has been held every April since 1998 to bring together libraries, writers, and literary organizations across Canada.
Admission to the open mic night is free, and refreshments will be available for purchase. While audience members are welcome to drop in, anyone interested in reading their poetry must register in advance at the library to reserve a spot.
National Poetry Month events across the country are coordinated by the League of Canadian Poets, with support from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council. This collaborative effort aims to highlight the role of poetry within Canadian culture.
