The indoor walking track at the Hay River Community Centre will be closed on Monday and Tuesday for routine seasonal maintenance. The two-day closure is required to safely remove the ice surface from the Aurora Ford Arena located directly below the track.
The walking track is a popular feature of the Hay River Community Centre, which was rebuilt in 2018 to host the Arctic Winter Games. Because the facility is designed with the track suspended above the ice rink, staff must clear the area while crews work on the ice surface. The track is expected to reopen for residents immediately once the maintenance is finished.
