The 4th Annual Golf Fundraiser hosted by Hockey NWT is coming to the Hay River Golf Course from July 3 to July 5, 2026. The event serves to support youth hockey development across the Northwest Territories while helping to fund ongoing upgrades at the local course.
This year, the weekend festivities will include special appearances by former professional hockey players Terry Ryan and Zenon Konopka. Ryan was drafted eighth overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 1995 and played for the organization between 1996 and 1999. Konopka played 346 games over nine seasons in the National Hockey League and was inducted into the Syracuse Hockey Hall of Fame in 2025.
The fundraiser has become an important contributor to the facility, with the 2025 event generating $25,000 for course improvements. These efforts complement a larger $1.5 million project aimed at revitalizing the property, which received $565,000 in federal funding through CanNor in 2025. This project includes updates to the clubhouse, grounds, and campground as the community continues to work through recovery efforts following past environmental challenges.
Sponsorship opportunities are currently available for the 2026 event, with packages ranging from a $8,000 top-tier sponsorship to a $500 booster level.
