High Level, Alberta is in for a wet start to the week before sunny skies and warmer temperatures arrive, according to Environment Canada.
Residents can expect showers on Monday, September 14, with a high of 11°C and a 60 per cent chance of showers continuing into the evening. Lows could dip to near 0°C overnight, bringing a risk of patchy frost.
Tuesday will see a few showers and a high of 8°C, but conditions are expected to clear Tuesday night. By Thursday, September 17, the forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 18°C, with Friday staying sunny at 17°C.
Those temperatures are above the normal September high of 15°C for High Level. Environment Canada’s fall outlook suggests a 60 to 70 per cent chance of above-normal temperatures for northern Alberta this season, partly due to a strengthening El Niño pattern.
This warm-up should feel welcome in a community where the average first fall frost arrives around August 25. The clearer, milder conditions late in the week will be ideal for outdoor plans before autumn fully takes hold.
