Niverville residents will have a chance to weigh in on a complete rewrite of the town’s development rules at a public hearing on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Community Resource and Recreation Centre, 501 Centre Street.
The hearing covers Bylaw 894-26, the new Niverville Development Plan, and Bylaw 895-26, the new Zoning Bylaw. Together they replace the existing planning framework and will guide land use decisions for the next 25 years, covering everything from where homes and businesses can be built to how Niverville maintains its small-town feel.
Written comments must be emailed to [email protected] by noon on Monday, September 14, 2026. Residents can also speak at the hearing.
The new documents replace bylaws from 2018. Niverville has grown 29 percent between 2016 and 2021, making it Manitoba’s fastest-growing municipality, and the town adds 300 to 400 newcomers a year at a 6.7 percent annual growth rate. The updated plan is meant to manage that growth while keeping the community character residents value.
The Development Plan sets five goals: welcoming new people while maintaining a small-town feeling, offering housing options for all incomes and life stages, creating appealing commercial and industrial areas, building a safe and walkable community, and providing quality municipal services and recreation.
