The Norway House Cree Nation in Manitoba is hosting its annual Round Dance on Saturday, March 28, 2026, to bring community members together through traditional music and dance. The event is being held at the community auditorium and is open to all residents who wish to participate.
The theme for this year is “Atamiskawatanik Kisakihakanowak,” which focuses on connecting with loved ones from the past, present, and future. The Four Pillars Society is organizing the gathering alongside the NHCN Parks and Recreation department.
The schedule starts at 5:00 PM with a pipe ceremony and a session for sharing traditional knowledge. A community feast will be held at 9:00 PM, followed by a giveaway at 11:00 PM, with the Round Dance continuing through the evening.
The ceremony is a traditional way for the community to promote healing and unity among its 9,000 members. Lead Elder Lawrence Whitehead and Master of Ceremonies Mike Bignell will help lead the drug and alcohol-free event.
