Norway House residents can get help with federal programs without leaving the community when Service Canada representatives visit on June 10, 2026. The session runs from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Norway House Education Centre on Walter & Margaret Apetagon Road, giving locals in-person access to services that usually mean a long trip south.
The visit is part of Service Canada’s Community Outreach and Liaison Service, a program that brings federal services straight to remote communities. Norway House sits 456 km north of Winnipeg and relies heavily on air travel and a cable ferry, so the outreach saves residents from costly and time-consuming journeys to larger centres like Thompson or Winnipeg.
At the event, staff will assist with a wide range of federal programs. That includes help applying for a Social Insurance Number, the Canadian Dental Care Plan, the Canada Disability Benefit, Employment Insurance, the Canada Pension Plan, and Old Age Security. The Norway House scheduled outreach site lists these services as available and confirms another visit is already scheduled for September 9, 2026.
The Norway House Cree Nation has a registered population of about 10,375 people, with more than 8,300 living on-reserve. For many, the June 10 session is the easiest way to get face-to-face help with applications or questions about eligibility.
