Norway House Cree Nation, Manitoba, held its public candidate forum on March 03, 2026, following the release of procedural rules to help voters prepare for the upcoming local election. The document, titled Conduct & Process for Candidates Forum, was published on March 02, 2026, and explains how the event is managed.

These guidelines set specific time limits for candidate speeches and outline the process for community members to ask questions. Electoral Officer Stephanie Connors is managing the event to ensure a fair debate for the one Chief and six Councillor positions available in the March 10, 2026, election.

Residents have three different ways to vote this year, including in-person at the Norway House Cree Nation Multiplex Auditorium. According to the Norway House Cree Nation, members can also use a secure online voting system provided by OneFeather.

This election follows a recent legal move by the community regarding environmental concerns on Lake Winnipeg. On February 21, 2026, the nation filed a lawsuit against the provincial and federal governments and Manitoba Hydro over water regulation issues.
