The Museum of Dufferin Archives is bringing a piece of local history to the Orangeville Public Library’s End of Summer Party on Thursday, August 27, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mill Street Library. Families are invited to step into historic Dufferin County photographs through a green screen experience, with printed keepsake photos to take home.
The green screen will digitally place participants into scenes from Main Street Orangeville over a century ago, as well as airplane wings and steam trains from the museum’s collection of approximately 3,000 photographs and more than 3,000 archival documents. The Museum of Dufferin has partnered with the library for this after-hours event, which also celebrates the completion of the TD Summer Reading Club’s ‘Dive In!’ program.
The party will feature a magic show by The Great Steverino, a professional children’s magician known for interactive performances at libraries and community events. Cake will also be served. Registration is required as space is limited; the event is currently full, but families can join a waitlist by emailing the Orangeville Public Library.
The Museum of Dufferin, located about 25 minutes north in Mulmur Township, has a long history of outreach to local libraries through its Archivist on the Road program. This event brings that partnership directly to families in Orangeville, offering a hands-on connection to the region’s past.
