Orangeville residents looking for information on candidates in the October 26 municipal election now have a one-stop resource. The Dufferin Board of Trade has updated its online Election Hub with new candidate profiles, including local hopeful Austin Cotton.
The non-partisan hub includes profiles for all 25 certified candidates running in Orangeville: five for mayor, two for deputy mayor, and 18 for council positions. Incumbent Mayor Lisa Post is seeking re-election against Sandy Brown, Christopher DeCastro, Nick Garisto, and Jeremy Williams. Deputy Mayor Todd Taylor is being challenged by Sheila K Hall.
Along with written profiles, the hub features candidate videos recorded by the Board of Trade and broadcast by Rogers TV, giving each candidate up to three minutes to introduce themselves and share their vision. The Board of Trade does not endorse or oppose any candidate through the initiative.
Voters can also find key election dates on the hub. A live Mayor and Deputy Mayor Debate is set for October 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Theatre Orangeville. Online voting opens October 9, with in-person advanced voting available on October 10 and 18. Election day is October 26.
The Orangeville candidate listings are designed to help residents make informed choices. Municipal decisions have a direct impact on local businesses, communities, and the economy, according to the Board of Trade, a nonprofit that has served the area since 1909.
