A 69-year-old motorcyclist suffered life-altering injuries following a three-vehicle collision in Oshawa on the morning of May 18, 2026. The Durham Regional Police Service responded to the incident at the intersection of King Street West and Park Road North at approximately 10:00 a.m.
According to police, a Nissan SUV and a Triumph motorcycle were stopped in the left through lane at a traffic light when they were struck from behind by a Dodge Journey. The impact forced the Dodge forward through the intersection, where it eventually came to a stop after crashing into a nearby Harvey’s restaurant.
The 69-year-old motorcyclist was initially taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre in critical condition, though his status has since been upgraded to stable. The 45-year-old driver of the Nissan and his two passengers, aged 7 and 15, were also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
Following the collision, 39-year-old Oshawa resident Timothy Eugene Wilson was arrested and faces charges including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, driving while under suspension, and breach of probation. He was held for a bail hearing.
This incident occurred as Durham Region continues its Durham Vision Zero initiative, a road safety strategy that identifies intersections as a primary area of concern. Local data indicates that approximately 63 per cent of motorcycle collisions in the region result in an injury or fatality. Two days later, another serious collision involving a motorcycle occurred in Whitby, highlighting ongoing road safety challenges as the riding season begins.
