As of 5 p.m. Monday, Oshawa Executive Airport reported light rain and 20°C with 100 percent humidity. Water may pool on roads and in low-lying areas, so drivers should be cautious. The Central Lake Ontario Conservation Authority continues to monitor watershed conditions across Durham Region, including Oshawa, for any flood risk.
Tuesday will bring a high of 28°C, but the humidity will make it feel like 36 on the humidex scale. There is a 30 percent chance of showers with a risk of thunderstorms, and the UV index will be 5, moderate. Overnight, the low will be 20°C with a 60 percent chance of showers.
Wednesday stays cloudy with a 30 percent chance of showers and a high of 27°C. The overnight low drops to 17°C with a 60 percent chance of showers. The sticky air is being driven by moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, which is also behind the multi-day thunderstorm threat across southern Ontario.
Relief arrives by Saturday, September 5, when skies are expected to clear with a mix of sun and cloud and a high of 24°C. Until then, residents planning outdoor activities should prepare for intermittent rain and muggy conditions.
