Grey County, Ontario, is planning to scan its entire 870 kilometre road network to help decide where future repairs and upgrades are needed most. The project involves hiring a specialized company to survey road surfaces across the region to ensure smoother commutes for local drivers.
The county is looking for a consultant to use an Automatic Road Analyzer, which is a vehicle equipped with scanners to identify cracks and wear. This technology allows the local government to get precise information on the state of the pavement to help plan for long-term maintenance.
The data gathered will be used to update the county’s Asset Management Plan. This plan helps local officials decide how to spend money each year on road construction and resurfacing projects.
The call for bids on the project is currently open and will close on April 16, 2026. By using these detailed scans, the county aims to direct funds to the roads that need the most work and keep the transportation network in good shape for the community.
