The Nancy Cornforth Community Art Exhibit is currently on display in the River District of Owen Sound, Ontario. The show will run until March 30, 2026, offering a free cultural option for residents and visitors during the late winter months.
The River District Board of Management organized the display to help bring more people to the more than 300 merchants and businesses in the downtown core. By hosting community events, the board hopes to increase the number of people walking through the business district to support local shop owners.
This art show is part of a larger effort by the City of Owen Sound to improve the downtown area. As part of the 2026 capital plan, the city has set aside $50,000 to support the development of a River District revitalization plan, which will outline future improvements to streetscapes and public spaces.
These projects are connected to a long-term city plan called Vision 2050. According to the city, the goal of the program is to increase resident satisfaction with downtown revitalization by five per cent per survey cycle by hosting more community art projects and making the district a more active destination for everyone.
