During this 10-day period, voters can access the electronic voting system 24 hours a day from any location with internet or telephone access. To prepare, the city will mail Voter Information Letters in October to all eligible residents. These letters will contain the necessary instructions and a unique Personal Identification Number required to log into the voting system.
The city is encouraging residents to verify or update their information through Register to Vote Ontario by the August 14, 2026, deadline. This step ensures that voter rolls are accurate before the election period begins.
Candidates have until 2:00 p.m. on August 21, 2026, to submit their nominations. As of May 2026, four individuals have registered for mayor, one for councillor, and one for French Public School Board Trustee. A list of those who have registered is available on the City of Owen Sound website.
The upcoming election follows the 2022 municipal vote, which saw a 39% voter turnout. Data from that election showed that 90% of participants chose to vote online, while 10% used the telephone system.
