Owen Sound, Ontario is in for a stretch of clear skies and climbing temperatures this week, according to Environment Canada. The forecast shows daytime highs rising from 20°C on Sunday to the mid-20s by midweek, with no weather alerts in effect for the area.
After a cool start of 4°C early Sunday morning, the thermometer is expected to reach 20°C by afternoon under sunny conditions. Overnight lows will dip to around 8°C, with clear skies continuing into Monday.
Monday will bring a high of 21°C by 2 p.m., following a morning low of 7°C. The warming trend is welcome news for residents ready to enjoy outdoor activities after a cooler spring.
However, the sunny weather comes with a caution. The UV index is forecast to hit 8 on Tuesday between 11 a.m. and noon, which Health Canada considers a very high risk. At that level, unprotected skin can burn in as little as 15 minutes. Environment Canada recommends wearing sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses during midday hours.
Marine conditions on Southern Georgian Bay are also favourable, with light winds under 10 knots and wave heights of 0.5 metres or less through Tuesday. Winds are expected to pick up slightly to 15 knots by Wednesday, but waves should remain manageable for boaters.
No alerts are in place for Owen Sound or the surrounding region, making it a good week for everything from backyard barbecues to waterfront walks.
